How username searches work

Most sites give each account a public address built from the username, like instagram.com/name or tiktok.com/@name. A username search simply checks those addresses. Because many people use the same handle everywhere, one username can lead to several profiles that, together, confirm who someone is.

Getting better results

  • Try variations: with and without dots, underscores and numbers (the tool suggests a few).
  • Search the exact handle in quotes on Google or Bing to catch forums, comments and smaller sites.
  • Compare profile photos across sites with a reverse image search.
  • Check account age: a handle that appears on many sites over many years is a strong sign of a real person.

Limits to keep in mind

  • Same handle does not mean same person. Match faces and details.
  • Private accounts show only a name and photo, if that.
  • Some sites show a page even for names that are not registered.
  • Use what you find for safety and identity, never to harass or track someone. See how to look someone up ethically.
Only have a name or number?

TrueSearch finds public profiles, photos and usernames tied to a name or phone number.

Questions

Can I find someone by their username?

Often. People reuse the same handle across sites, so checking one username on many platforms can reveal other public profiles. Always confirm with photos and details, since different people can share a handle.

Does this tool check if the account exists?

It builds direct links to each site's public profile URL, so you see exactly what any visitor would. It does not log in anywhere or scrape anything, and some sites show a generic page for names that do not exist.

Will the person know I looked them up?

Opening a public profile does not notify most sites' users. A few platforms (for example LinkedIn) can show profile visitors if you are logged in, so open those in a private window if that matters to you.

Can I search a username on Tinder?

Only if the person created a public Tinder username, which gives them a page at tinder.com/@username. Most Tinder users never do, so a missing page means nothing.
